The Animal Rescue and Protection Society, Inc. (TARPS) is a humane organization whose mission is to keep animals from abuse and improve their quality of life. In the process we find safe homes for the animals, educate the public in the proper care of pets and encourage pet spaying/neutering to prevent unwanted litters.

A Reputable and Reliable Organization

TARPS has been actively achieving its goals in the Chester Vermont area for over a decade. Our veterinarians have worked with us from the formation of our society. Some of the leading members of the Chester and Rockingham communities have supported us for years. As a private, non-profit, charitable organization, the shelter is staffed solely by volunteers. The funds that support TARPS’s mission come from direct charitable gifts and adoption fees. We are not a part of any regional or national animal welfare group. We rely on people like you to make our work possible.

Donors, Supporters and Sponsors

Our mission requires not only the time and service of volunteers, but money, for basics like food, litter, vet services, utilities, and facility upkeep. We also have a need for goods, such as teaching aids, building and office materials, and cleaning supplies.

Matching Gifts. You can boost your contribution by enquiring whether your employer will match your funds. Here’s our link for more info on matching gifts.

Sponsor an Event. Do you know of a business, group or company that would like to give to the community by sponsoring an event, or a bill payment, or a specific need or repair? Please let us know.

Special Funds. We have some special fund accounts. One such fund is the Webster Fund. Money donated is used to help with vet bills, medicine, and food for animals with special needs and difficult to treat diseases and conditions.
