We need support for all our fund raising.

Please Lend a Hand

Do you have a small amount of free time? Do you enjoy working with animals? Do you love cats but can not have one of your own? We have an array of opportunities for you.

Whatever Your Talent, We Have
a Job for You

It’s not all about cleaning litter boxes and mopping floors. Yes, those chores are needed, daily, but TARPS has many other opportunities for volunteer work. A brief list includes: office work, running errands, publicity/promotion, education, fund-raising, facility care and maintenance, construction, gardening and there is much more. There is also the job of playing with and helping to socialize our cats so they will be ready for their new homes.

It’s not all cleaning.

Whatever Your Age, We Have a Job for You

Unfortunately the law requires you to be 16* or older to work with our cats, but that needn’t stop you from helping. If you are grade school age, you can help us with mailings, conduct food drives and tag sales, or bake (with an adult) for our bake sales. We’d love to hear your ideas. Have your school or group leader contact us—we have some wonderful ideas for community outreach.

If you are a tween or teenager, you can help us by writing publicity items, taking photos at our events, baby-sitting to raise funds, helping with painting, construction and gardening around the shelter.

Great News! The time you put in for TARPS is eligible to use towards church or school community service hours.

No contribution is too small.

Food, litter, vet care and building/facility upkeep all cost money. So fundraising is a big area where we need help, especially with larger efforts. Here’s a list of projects and events which we’ve run in the past: Coin drops, bake sales, Music in the Meadow concerts, dog walks, Pampered Chef parties.

There are many benefits to fostering.

Fostering a Worthwhile Commitment!

Could you open your home temporarily to animals in need? Join our foster care network. These volunteers foster kittens, nursing mother cats, animals recuperating from injuries, and adoptable pets during times of overcrowding—for a few days or even a few months. If you’d like to hear more about our foster program, contact us at (802) 875-7777 or e-mail shelter@TARPSAnimalShelterVt.org and let us know.

No Time? No Room? But You’d Like To Make a Contribution?
